Trump Says Lawyers Are Seeking Court Guidance on SNAP Funding
President Donald Trump said Friday that his legal team is seeking immediate clarification from the courts on how to legally continue funding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the ongoing government shutdown.
“I have instructed our lawyers to ask the Court to clarify how we can legally fund SNAP as soon as possible,” the president posted on Truth Social.
Trump emphasized that if the courts give the green light, he would act without hesitation:
“It will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay.”
He also placed blame on congressional Democrats for ongoing delays in securing aid for more than 42 million Americans who rely on food assistance each month.
What to Watch
- Will the courts respond quickly to the administration’s request for legal clarity?
- Will states be able to distribute benefits smoothly if approval is given?
- How are Democrats responding to this latest message from the president?
Stay tuned for further developments as this legal standoff unfolds.
